Scam Alert: Fraudsters Impersonate Bitdefender in Fake Job Interviews

Cybercriminals are currently running a sophisticated recruitment scam, misusing the Bitdefender brand, logo, and reputation to target unsuspecting job seekers.

Victims have reported receiving unsolicited emails and messages—often sent from lookalike domains such as bitdefendercorp.com—inviting them to fake interviews under the guise of "Bitdefender Careers." These communications are entirely fraudulent and are not connected to Bitdefender in any way.

The goal of these scams is to trick applicants into revealing sensitive personal or financial information, installing malicious software, or even sending money disguised as employment fees.

How to Spot and Verify a Legitimate Bitdefender Interview

To protect yourself from compromise and financial loss, always verify the communication using these crucial checks:

  1. Check the Email Domain: All official Bitdefender recruitment communications come only from email addresses ending in @bitdefender.com. Be wary of any slight variations.
  2. Verify Job Listings: Legitimate job openings are listed exclusively on bitdefender.com and our verified recruitment partner site, bitdefender.csod.com.
  3. Interview Process: Bitdefender recruiters use official channels and send calendar invites from @bitdefender.com accounts. We do not use chat-only interviews or move conversations to messaging apps like Telegram or WhatsApp for official hiring.
  4. No Financial Requests: Bitdefender will never ask you to pay money, install third-party software, or perform financial transactions during the hiring process.

What to Do If You've Been Targeted

  • If you receive a suspicious message: Do not click links or download attachments. Verify the email domain. If you are unsure, forward the entire message (with the original email attached, if possible) to [email protected] with the subject "Recruitment Scam" for investigation.
  • If you have engaged with the scammer: Immediately reset all passwords you may have shared, enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) on your accounts, and run a full system scan with your security software to detect potential malware. Report the incident to your local cybercrime authority.
